I saw your post on the BBC Board.  I have heard of and been scammed by John Avalos.  He said that he worked for the Wounded Warrior Project and he is also  captain of Team Bass Hunters.  He has a website for Team Bass Hunters. 
I own a jig company and he ordered jigs and said that he wanted to sell them for charity and he would pay for the jigs after he sold them and any profit would go to the Wounded Warrior Project and Operation Once in a Lifetime. That was over one year ago and I still have not been paid after many attempts. 
He even had someone contact us that said he was a salesperson named Gene Holloway for Team Bass Hunters and he was going to get our product in tackle shops everywhere and then they could raise more money for the project.    
I believe he is using the project for his own gain.  We have been told by some other fisherman that he has a room full of tackle. We have seen his name as a co-angler with the Bassmaster Opens, however he has not won much money.  I'm not sure he even owns a boat. He even had a company make a special rod and reel for Team Bass Hunters.
I made special Red/White and Blue jigs for an event that was to be in Washington, however we can't confirm if that ever took place. 
I contacted Operation Once in a Lifetime to find out if he was really involved and they said they were not sure that I should submit the information I had.  I have yet to hear back from them.
He always has an excuse and the check is always being sent next week.
I'm sure there are many others that have fallen for his scam.
Someone has also posted your blog on facebook so maybe more will come forward.

copy of some text between john and i from jan 27th to feb 23rd. if you read them you will see he never planned to send anything he just kept making up stories to keep me quiet. today is the 28th of feb and he will not respond to my calls or emails anymore.

Jan 27th

• John 1/2) When are you coming home.
• I have your money and my wife won't put it through paypal. At tournament all my electronics got stolen and my truck got boroken (2/2)
• in to and they stoled every thing.
• I am screwed all credit cards passport everythin is gone.

Feb 1st

• John: Give me your address so I fed ex this money. I am in NC til Friday.
• Mike: XXXXXXXXXXXX st pete fl. I'm goin to start fishin xtreme bass series here at lake tarpon in2 weeks.
• John: Is it team series And what are the fees
• Mike: Ya it is. I dunno if I'll fish it now. Entry fre is 120 per team. Good money tho. 11 boats got almost 700 for first.
• John: Wow that is good money. I look at it to see if we can swing the cost. I thought that was a big series I'll call you when I get home friday
• Mike:It's interesting to me because it's only 20 mins from my house and I can actually go practice there.
• John:True. I have new bassking gear coming and jerseys will be done this week. Do you want your boat and truck wraped?

• John: I will find graphics shop up there and get them our art work. You will have to take your truck and boat to them to get measured for wraps. I will look for (2/2) one on computer Ok (1/2)
• Sorry thing feel apart last week with shiit getting stolen and crap it messed me up pretty bad. I lost 6000. Worth of equipment. 12 boats were hit at the (2/2) tournament

• John: Yeah they caught one guy with my credit cards at bass pro shop yesterday. Insurance is going to covermost of it thankfuly.

• John: How was granada Did you win?
• Mike: Good. Had a lot of fish up. I lost a tuna that was probably over 200lbs right next to the boat. It would have broke the record. I released a white marlin and lost another one that would have also broke the white marlin record. Lost a fee more billfish and another tuna around 150lbs. Didn't win but I'd we would have got the fish we lost we probably would have. (1/2)

Feb 4th

• Mike: Ok Didn't see that money you said u were sendin fedex. Did it get delivered already. Want to make sure it wasn't left on the porch or something.
• John: I wiil be home in about 3 hrs. I will call my wife to see what she did.

Feb 8th

• Mike: Ok Still waitin on that money. Need it to pay for the website hosting that's why it's down. And also the reason I didn't fish Tampa pro bass last Sunday
• John: Ok I will make sure she sends it by 5pm today she has been working but is off today and tomorrow. I don't know why she waited so long

Feb 11th

• Mike: Gonna need that money man at I figured u would at least have paid for the reel and rods I gave you. And the jigs and studf u had me send to that guy and for the Tampa pro bass tournaments that u should have been splitting the cost with me at least. I wouldn't even have fished those tournaments if I didn't expect to have someone to split the cost with me. U told paul that u were sponsoring those tournaments so he didnt have to pay for them. And the reel and rod you told ben u would pay for since u were sponsoring him. This stuff is adding up, my woman is on my ass about money. I have a guy here in Tampa that's been doing the same thing to me now for over a year so Im not really going to accept the answer that Its coming every week to never see anything.

Feb 16th

• Mike: mail has come again. Money has not.
• John: Ok I will have her trac it.
• Mike: What did the tracking info say.
• John: Just got home havnt even talked to my wife yet. I had some issues with fire pump

Feb 17th

• Mike: Mail came. No money
• John: I know tracing said it willbe deliverd by sat. She should have just let me tranfer it.

Feb 19th

• Mike: So no money again. It only takes one day for anything to get from tampa to st Pete. I ship stuff all over the world every day so I know every shipping carrier and what the shipping times are.

Feb 22nd

• Mike:Mail came again. No money Again

Feb 23rd

• Mike: Mail came again. Money did not again.
• John: (1/2) I am in dallas.. these money orders were sent out. I will look at where she sent them when I get back Sunday..they havnt cleared the fucking bank yet so t (2/2) hey are out there some where. I also need reciept for everything in granada for accounting.
• Mike: Just give me the tracking number and I can take care of any problems if it went to the wrong address.
